Here at St John's we firmly believe in a broad and balanced curriculum and we really value all areas of the curriculum. We have whole school topics to enhance the curriculum and have Profound Learning Experiences (where we go out on trips or have workshops in school) based on the current learning. Therefore our learning themes change every year - based on the needs of the children, the National Curriculum and current worldwide topics and events.
From January 2020 the school bought into some new schemes to assist in the teaching and learning of PSHE/RSE and RE. We use the 'Jigsaw' scheme of work and resources for Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE) and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE).
The 'Discovery RE' Programme is taught for Religious Education alongside the Understanding Christianity resource.
For KS1 pupils, St John's uses Bug Club Phonics and reading schemes.
