Here at St John's we firmly believe in a rich, broad and balanced curriculum and we really value all areas of the curriculum. We have whole school topics to enhance the curriculum and have Profound Learning Experiences (where we go out on trips or have workshops in school) based on the current learning. Therefore our learning themes change every year - based on the needs of the children, the National Curriculum and current worldwide topics and events.
We have recently changed our scheme of work and resources for Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE) and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) to 'SCARF'. The policy and further deatils will be available shortly.
The National Curriculum is followed using The Wiltshire Agreed Syllabus and Understanding Christianity to inform the teaching and learning for RE. Parents and carers have the right to withdraw their child from RE lessons. If this is something you wish to discuss please see the class teacher or email admin@st-johntisbury.wilts.sch.uk
For KS1 pupils, St John's uses Bug Club Phonics and their reading scheme.
